HOMEGROWN amusement park Anjo World has resumed its operations on Friday, Sept. 11, following the easing of restrictions under the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) in Cebu Province.

Belmont One president Chester Lim said they are optimistic that local tourism will start to pick up as Cebu continues to see a downward trend of Covid-19 cases.

“People will start to go out as we have been locked down for too long and we deserve a break to reward ourselves, spend time with our families and friends,” he said.

Cedric Reyes, head of sales, marketing and press relations of Anjo World, said their main thrust is to give a well-deserved break to people who wanted to go out of their homes for a breather after the six months strict lockdown.

“That’s why we want to open. Our main purpose is to offer Anjo World as a recreation after this very long lockdown. Our goal is to entertain and welcome them back,” he said.

Reyes said they want to position Anjo World not only as Cebu’s top family destination, but also a safer theme park for all.

“Being a member of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, we were prepared as early as July with adapting to the new normal. Theme parks from abroad shared their best practices in keeping their parks safe,” he said.

Theme park officials said they already secured a Special Mayor’s Permit from the local government of Minglanilla and Certificate of Compliance from the Cebu Provincial Tourism Office to resume receiving tourists again.

Only 5,000 guests are allowed to enter the amusement park as per MGCQ’s guidelines of 50 percent operational capacity. The park will enforce frequent hand washing and sanitizing, physical distancing, temperature checking, health declaration for contact tracing, wearing of face mask, non-contact access of entry and exit points, contactless ordering of food and frequent disinfection of facilities and rides.

The company’s health infection and prevention control officer will regularly check whether all of these health protocols are properly observed.

Guests are required to wear face masks, face shields and bring identification cards. Minors and senior citizens are not yet allowed to enter the park.

Guests may only purchase tickets online at www.anjoworld.com to encourage cashless payment transactions.

Apart from the existing 12 thrilling rides at the park, Anjo World is adding more mid-way games called Funtastic Arena, where guests can play “can smash” or throw some hoops and win larger than life stuffed toys.

Anjo World is also offering various promos as it seeks to regain visitor confidence.

It is participating in the upcoming Great Cebu Sale from Sept. 15 to Oct. 31, 2020. Guests may purchase three Day Adventure Pass (DAP) and get one free DAP ticket (unlimited ride ticket per person, per day).

Moreover, as its way of recognizing the frontliners Anjo World is also offering them a P100 discount on tickets. (JOB)
