Pangasinan town places 4 barangays, purok in total lockdown

THE local government of Bayambang placed its four barangays and one purok in total lockdown as part of the measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the municipality.

Dr. Cesar Quiambao, mayor of Bayambang, issued on September 9 Executive Order 45, imposing granular lockdown on Barangays Cadre Site, Darawey, Tambac, Bical Norte, and Purok 3 of Ambayat 1st from 1 a.m. of September 12, 2020 to 12 a.m. of September 26, 2020 and adopting guidelines under enhanced community quarantine.

Quiambao said in his order that all residents of the barangays under lockdown are mandated to stay inside their homes and going out is prohibited unless it is for medical emergencies.

"Only health workers and frontliners shall be allowed to go out provided that they present valid identifications as proof of their employment," Quiambao said.

He added that all residents of the purok and barangays under lockdown shall observe proper health protocols such as regular hand washing and checking of temperature.

"If any resident shows any sign or symptoms of Covid-19, he or she must immediately report it to the barangay health worker or barangay council," he said.

He said the barangay council, in coordination with Bayambang Police Station, shall strictly monitor the entry and exit points in the barangays.

"In the event that any person unreasonably refuses to abide with or deliberately violates these guidelines, Bayambang Police Station and barangay council shall impose fines on the grounds of disobedience or resistance to the person in authority," he said.

Likewise, under the issued order, liquor ban and restriction on public gatherings will also be implemented in the whole municipality of Bayambang starting September 10 until further notice.

"Starting on September 10, 2020, all BayambangueƱos are required to secure a permit from the Rural Health Unit before being allowed to organize any type of gathering," Quiambao added.

Quiambao also included in his executive order that all public and private cemeteries within the municipality shall be closed from October 30, 2020 until November 3, 2020.

He also ordered that Bayambang Public Market Block III (meat and fish section, canteen) shall be placed on lockdown from September 10, 2020 (1a.m.) until September 16, 2020 and there shall be a temporary market in Barangay Bani near the Hands of Heaven Memorial Park.

He also said that the mobile market shall continue to be operational and shall follow the same schedule.

As of September 9, Bayambang town recorded a total of 19 confirmed cases.

Of the number, seven are active cases, nine have recovered while three deaths were recorded. (PIA)
