THE Mapúa University has launched fully online counterparts of some of its bachelor’s degree programs, allowing students in any region of the country to acquire a topnotch engineering and information technology degree.
Through the Mapúa Digital Academics (MDA), students can enroll in any of the six fully online bachelor’s degree programs in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology.
In a press briefing, Mapúa University president and chief executive officer Dr. Reynaldo B. Vea explained that the fully online bachelor’s degree programs provide students much academic leeway since the programs are self-paced, allowing students to learn on their own schedule.
With this initiative, the university targets to boost its leadership in delivering online education to reach out to more students locally and globally through the online learning space.
The fully online programs will be delivered in a modular system wherein students can study their courses at their own pace.
This setup is ideal for students who are working, internationally based and those residing outside Metro Manila who want to acquire quality Mapúa education.
Mapúa also noted that enrolling in a fully online program will reduce the cost for students, as it reduces some miscellaneous fees and study-associated costs such as transportation, lodging and allowance.
Aside from modules, Mapúa will also use various learning tools, including Coursera, Wiley and Cengage e-textbooks, McGraw-Hill Connect and Aleks and Labster, among others, on its very own Cardinal EDGE platform.
Mapúa also assures that students in these fully online programs will get the same quality of education as those enrolled in regular programs since both will use the same curriculum, course and module outcomes, grading system, academic policies and requirements for admission and graduation.
