Samante: NBA Playoff 2020-Conference Finals

Game On

THREE teams in, only one more slot left, and we are good to go with the NBA Conference Finals. The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics will square off in the East. Simultaneously, the Los Angeles Lakers are waiting for the winner of the Clippers-Nuggets series, which went the distance following the Nuggets game six win. Will it be the Battle of LA or Duos Basketball? We find out after Game 7 of this series.

Heat-Celtics is the first time that no top-seeded team made it to the Eastern Conference finals. They are the 5th and 3rd seeded teams of the conference, and they managed to eliminate the top 2 teams in their semi-finals match up. Miami had a 4-1 series win against Giannis and the Bucks.

At the same time, Boston dethroned the defending NBA champs in seven games. This will be a match-up of basketball wits and talents. Coach Spoelstra vs. Coach Stevens. Two highly touted bench technicians in the modern NBA and their talented players.

Experience against youth.

Miami has assembled a mix of veterans to complement their youth. Bringing in Andre Iguodala gives them veteran leadership, which may lead them to the NBA Finals. He is bringing in his Warriors finals experience where he won a finals MVP plum. The up and coming Celtics will rely on their youth to gain experience. With a relatively young core, they can give this Heat team a scare after all; they managed to eliminate the reigning champs.

The Lakers punched in the first ticket for the Western Conference Final via a gentleman's sweep of the Rockets in their semi-finals match up. Led by Lebron James and Anthony Davis, they are back in the Conference Finals after ten years. The team's last time reaching the conference finals was in 2010, led by the late Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol en route to an NBA title.

While many touted a Battle of LA as a great match-up, the Nuggets may have other plans in mind. They are now poised to spoil the Battle of LA. They play great with their backs against the wall. They were also down 3-1 to the Jazz before edging them in game seven of the first round. Now, they are again in familiar territory, down 3-1, they managed to claw their way back to the series led by Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. Another Game 7 for the books.

Take your pick, NBA fans.
