The samples include 15 close contacts of Patient EV-3594, one close contact of Patient EV-3673, six frontliners, five locally stranded individuals, and two Covid-19 suspect cases.

Mercado said the 29 cases will still comply with their 14-day mandatory quarantine period with close monitoring by the city medical workers.

"We, therefore, would like to remind the public that we should not be complacent and put our guards down. We should always remain vigilant and strictly follow the mandated protocols at all times. Please avoid unnecessary journeys. Stay at home, stay safe, and protect others," Mercado said in a statement.

Maasin has four active Covid-19 cases to date.

According to DOH, Eastern Visayas has 3,179 (81.82 percent) recoveries, 668 (17.19 percent) active cases, and 38 deaths. (SunStar Philippines)
