Pushcart boy, another nabbed in anti-drug stings

A PUSHCART boy and a street-level individual (SLI) were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City and in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Wednesday, September 16, 2020.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Salim Asmad, 20, a pushcart boy, and Jovannie Layos Hamoy, 24, an SLI drug personality.

Duco said Asmad was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 5 p.m. Tuesday in Kasanyangan village, this city.

Seized from Asmad were some P6,000 worth of suspected shabu and P300 marked money.

Duco said Hamoy was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 7:35 p.m. Tuesday in A.L. Micubo village, Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte.

He said recovered from the suspect were two heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, P200 cash money in different denominations and P500 marked money.

Duco said the suspects were detained while formal charges are set to be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
