Cagayan de Oro logs 14 new Covid-19 cases

FOURTEEN new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases were logged in Cagayan de Oro, 12 of which are local cases and two are locally stranded individuals (LSIs), City Health Officer Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported on Wednesday, September 16.

According to City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery, of the 12 new local cases, seven are close contacts of previously confirmed Covid-19 cases.

The total number of confirmed cases in the city is now at 497.

The 484th case is a 24-year-old male LSI from Pasay and a resident of Barangay Balulang. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on September 4. He experienced colds and loss of sense of taste.

The man was swabbed on September 9 and the result came out positive. He is currently staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 485th case is a 51-year-old female LSI from Cebu City and a resident of Barangay Talbon. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea travel on September 5 and was immediately brought to the city isolation unit upon arrival.

According to Retuya, the woman was in Cebu City for a vacation. She was swabbed on September 9 and the result came out positive on September 15. She has hypertension and is under medication.

She is asymptomatic and is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 486th case is a 32-year-old male resident of Barangay 24 who was exposed to the 371st case, the 62-year-old female local authorized person outside residence (Apor) from Barangay 24.

The man was swabbed on September 10 and the result came out positive on September 15. The City Health Office identified four close family contacts.

The 487th case is a 22-year-old male resident of Barangay 26 who was exposed to the 421st case, the 46-year-old female local Apor from Barangay 26. He is the son of the 421st case. His last day of exposure was on September 4.

The man was swabbed on September 11 and the result came out positive on September 15. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 488th case is a 71-year-old female resident of a compound in Barangay Kauswagan. She is the wife of the 373rd case, the 71-year-old male from Barangay Kauswagan who is currently admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC).

The woman was swabbed on September 9 and the result came out positive on September 15. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified 19 direct contacts of the woman.

The 489th case is a 57-year-old female resident of Barangay Kauswagan. She is the sister of the 373rd case. She was swabbed on September 9 and the result came out positive on September 15.

The woman is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 490th case is a 40-year-old female resident of Barangay Kauswagan. She is the daughter-in-law of the 373rd case. She was swabbed on September 9 and the result came out positive on September 15.

The woman is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 491st case is a 55-year-old female healthcare worker who was exposed to the 436th case, the 30-year-old female from Barangay Lapasan. Her last day of exposure was on September 9.

The woman showed symptoms on September 11 and had experienced cough and shortness of breathing on September 13. She was brought to the NMMC on September 13 and was swabbed. The result came out positive on September 15.

The City Health Office identified seven direct contacts.

The 492nd case is a 28-year-old male resident of a gated community in Barangay Balulang. He had a fever and body pain on September 9 and had a loss of sense of taste and smell on September 10.

The man experienced shortness of breath on September 14 and was admitted to the NMMC where he was swabbed and tested positive. He is currently staying in the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified five direct contacts.

The 493rd case is a 67-year-old female resident of Macanhan, Barangay Carmen. She had a fever and cough on September 8. She was admitted to the NMMC on September 14 where she was swabbed. The result came out positive on September 15.

The 494th case is a 61-year-old male resident of Barangay Agusan who traveled from Butuan on September 4. He sought medical consultation on September 8 in a clinic and was brought to a private hospital on September 9 due to shortness of breathing.

The man was swabbed and tested positive. He was transferred to the NMMC, however, he died on September 13. The City Health Office identified 10 close contacts of the man.

The 495th case is a 25-year-old male who was exposed to the 471st case, the 87-year-old businessman from Barangay Carmen. He is the son of the 471st case.

The 25-year-old man developed colds on August 31 and was exposed to the 471st case on September 7.

He was swabbed on September 13 and the result came out positive on September 15. The City Health Office identified four direct contacts of the man.

The 496th case is a 30-year-old female resident of Barangay Bulua. According to Retuya, she is the house help of the 495th case.

The woman was swabbed on September 13 and the result came out positive on September 15. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 497th case is a 69-year-old female resident of Barangay Patag. She had a fever and epigastric pain on September 7 and experienced loss of appetite on September 10.

The woman sought medical consultation in a private hospital on September 11 and was swabbed on September 14. The result came out positive on September 15.

Retuya said she is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility or the NMMC.

Cagayan de Oro has recorded 188 active cases, 15 of whom are admitted to the NMMC, 118 are outpatients, and 55 are ROFs/LSIs.
