Goho: A greater potential

Goho: A greater potential

EACH day we find ourselves in a fractured creation and a broken world. There is simply immense chaos everywhere around us. And we might all be somehow enslaved by our fallen nature which bounds us to many possible catastrophes and mishaps.

Over the generations, there had been substantial dialogue and debate doubting various notions on the capacity of our free will. Many skeptics would argue and allude to the highly flawed concept of determinism.

With a deterministic worldview, there is zero accountability. It simply takes away all notions of choice or moral responsibility. It is the belief that we are wired like a computer simulation that inhibits us from making sound decisions, creating substantial impacts and gaining abilities for genuine growth and development.

It emphasizes a point that everything is beyond our control and there is nothing more we can do about them. This would somehow make more sense in a deistic worldview which takes away the intangible elements, beauties and wonders of the complexities of humanity such as our abilities to positively change and make a difference.

Determinists have an escapist outlook, most might blame bad genes, a poor environment, a dysfunctional upbringing and unfortunate circumstances for their misdeeds. But if this was true, why then do we go through all the trouble seeking justice or truth? There are various dangers in adapting to such a mentality that hinders us from any chance for real change and true repentance. There is simply a need for evil actions to be held accountable and stick to the objective morality ever so present in our worldly existence.

While there is much truth that there are elements of our genetic makeup and circumstances that shape who we are and project certain proclivities and probabilities from our human nature, however, we are not enslaved by these by any means. We cannot simply be led by highly binary conclusions that take away our individual responsibilities and capacities for continuous improvement.

We are very much conscious and alive, and we are highly capable of making choices that could make significant impacts for ourselves, for others and the world.
