THROUGHOUT my life, I have never truly maximized my potential. For the most part, a lot of time was wasted and I had been a lost figure merely going through the motions.
It is an unfortunate scenario when we remain stagnant and aloof in a faulty paradigm. Most of us seem content to just get by and remain on the surface with all the customary superficiality around us. And sadly, there is an eerie emptiness behind it all.
It has come to my realization that I had been a weak figure. I had turned a blind eye many times over, I had frequently chosen the easy path for convenience, I had been a people pleaser wary of keeping false peace, I had shied away due to feelings of fear and inadequacy by simply going with the flow and I had condoned many wrongdoings when there were many opportunities to stand up, make a positive difference and speak the truth.
It is with much regret that I look back now and see how I had failed to take responsibility to such callings that bring about real substantive value in the world.
Nowadays, we see many figures succumb to the pressures of complying with certain social dynamics. I had certainly come across my fair share of traitors, sellouts, and sleazebags that contribute to the deterioration of humanity as a whole.
There is an underlying sense to perform and comply in such shallow settings to what is deemed acceptable, simply to fill a void and to mask many concealed deep-seated insecurities and inferiorities. There is usually a carefree self-directed outlook where empathy is nonexistent thereby negatively affecting the lives of others in various ways.
It has become an endless game to perform to gain social acceptance at the cost of devaluing oneself. Many are very wary of protecting their external image, power, status, position and reputation but few are wary of their internal strengths, abilities, knowledge, wisdom and ultimately character.
In our lives, there will be many tests, choices and decisions that will constantly arise. It is indeed difficult to choose the road less travelled, to do the right but unpopular thing over the misguided trendy one. There is no doubt many hardships will come along the way as we mold our character. But one particular person who had displayed such an unshakable character, who stood his ground despite the cost, who exemplified the realest kind of love, who spoke truth, who paid the ultimate price, who was the exceptional archetypal figure in human history, God incarnate, Jesus Christ himself.
