Ang river ug coastal clean up drive gihimo nunot International Coastal Clean Up celebration. Ang clean up nagsugod sa alas 7 sa buntag hangtod sa ala 1 sa hapon.
Gihimo ang clean up sa walo ka mga dapit nga naglakip sa mga baba sa mga sapa sa Lahug, Guadalupe, Bulacao ug Kinalumsan; Tejero ug Mahiga Creeks; ug coastal areas sa Barangay Mambaling ug South Road Properties (SRP).
Si Eddie Llamedo, chief sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) 7 Planning and Management Division, niingon nga sagad sa nakolektang mga basura naglakip sa mga lata, baso, ligid, plastic nga mga botelya, mga panapton ug sachets. Ang mga basura gilabay sa Inayawan Transfer Station ug Binaliw sanitary landfill.
“Yes, this is huge in volume considering that for the past three days we have experienced heavy rainfall where these wastes were carried down from the upstream portion of these rivers,” matod ni Llamedo. (JJL)
