Fetalvero: Green world

CALADIUMS, calatheas, begonias, cactuses, succulents and some lucky plants are the popular favorites by those who are into the “green revolution.” It might be practical to give some tips on how to take care of indoor and some ornamental plants.

Caladiums and calatheas are great for indoors since they can live even with no direct sunlight and do not need watering for days. The intricate pattern or design on its leaves are a delight to someone who enjoys art.

Nature indeed provides us with a lot of choices in the field of flora. I am into collecting some varieties of begonias. Unfortunately, there are not too many available locally. The various kinds of begonias come in different forms and sizes. Wide, rounded and elongated leaves and different colored tiny flowers are what attracted me to collect them.

Cactuses and succulents are outdoor plants and are nice to put together in a dish garden. I made a couple of dish gardens for myself and my three grandchildren. These are great as gifts especially if you customized them.

Lucky plants are greeneries indoors. Peace Lilies and snake plants are the popular ones. The flowers of peace lilies look like anthuriums. The white flowers last for weeks before they wither. Snake plants, on the other hand, provide us with ample oxygen and therefore it is recommended to be placed inside our homes. These can thrive even in tall flower vases with water. No need to plant it in potting soil if you intend to enjoy it indoors.

We thank the Lord for the gift of nature. “A garden is where the soul feels at home.” Let us enjoy the hobby of gardening. Our brothers and sisters in the mountains of California all the way to Oregon have nothing but scorched memories of their homes and gardens.
