Elderly couple die from Covid-19 in Macabebe town

AN ELDERLY couple in Macabebe town died on the same day due to coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

According to the local government's latest health bulletin, the couple from Barangay Batasan here died on September 17 while experiencing Covid-19 symptoms.

The husband, 70, served as an EMDC or distributor of Holy Communion during Catholic mass and was even able to perform his duty on September 6.

The 69-year-old wife, meanwhile, was usually confined on her bed and moved with the help of a wheelchair.

On September 9, the couple's son from Bulacan and daughter-in-law from Mandaluyong visited them in their house while the elderly had no symptoms yet.

When the young couple visited them again on September 12, the senior citizens started feeling body weakness and developed fever two days after.

The patients were taken samples for a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test on September 14, while other Covid-19 symptoms developed on them.

The swab test results came out positive on September 19, two days after the couple had passed away.

The patients are the municipality's sixth and seventh fatalities of Covid-19. As of Saturday, there were 43 confirmed cases of the disease in this town, 15 of which have already recovered.
