Woman dies after being hit by vehicle in Bacolod

A 59-YEAR-OLD woman died after she was hit by a vehicle in Purok Sawmill, Barangay Bata, Bacolod City Sunday morning, September 20, 2020.

Police identified the fatality as Haidie Torres of Barangay Bata.

Police records showed the victim was hit by a Mitsubishi Strada pickup driven by Leomel Gonzaga of Barangay Bata around 8 a.m.

The victim was brought to a hospital, but she did not survive.

Meanwhile, a man was injured after he was shot by two unidentified assailants at Villa Angela, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City Friday evening.

Police identified the victim as Mark Anthony Cubos of Purok Kamoteng Kahoy, Barangay 4.

Police Major Charles Gever, chief of Police Station 4, said the victim was about to park his vehicle along Villa Angela when unidentified assailants fired at him several times around 7 p.m. and fled.

He said the victim, a former drug surrenderer, managed to drive his car towards the check-up points and sought police assistance.

The victim sustained wounds and was brought to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center.

The police are eyeing illegal drugs or personal grudges as possible motives in the incident.

Gever said they are still conducting further investigation to determine the identity of the suspects.
