A TOTAL of 158 vehicles, including motorcycles, were apprehended in joint operations conducted by the Land Transportation Office (LTO)-Central Visayas and the Highway Patrol Group last weekend.

LTO-Central Visayas Director Victor Emmanuel Caindec said that 92 vehicles were apprehended on Sunday, September 20, while the 66 were apprehended last Saturday, September 19.

These vehicles were issued a Temporary Operator's Permit (TOP), he added.

The joint two-day operations happened on Transcentral Highway, Cebu City and on Manipis Road in Talisay City-Toledo City.

The riders were apprehended for various violations, such as reckless driving, not wearing seatbelt, overloading, and no plates attached, among others.

Two weeks ago, a photo showing hundreds of motorcycles lining up for the checkpoint on Transcentral Highway went viral on social media.

Barangay Gaas in Balamban and Campo 7 in Minglanilla are two of the most visited places by motorcycle riders.

Caindec reminded the public, especially the motorcycle riders, to keep in mind that even though the whole Island of Cebu is under the modified general community quarantine, the coronaavirus disease (Covid-19) remains. (PR)
