EVEN with their recent success in the recruitment wars, the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons are not resting on their laurels and are already stocking up on talent for the future with the official recruitment of UAAP Season 82 high school Mythical Five member Bismarck Lina.
Lina was welcomed to UP’s fold on Monday afternoon, September 21, after he met with Fighting Maroons head coach Bo Perasol and team manager Atty. Agaton Uvero. Afterwards, Perasol confirmed to SunStar Cebu that Lina will be part of the roster come Season 84 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) men’s basketball tournament.
“Bismarck is going to be part of the Season 84 team,” said Perasol.
Perasol had nothing but praise for the 19-year-old who recently decommitted from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in the wake of the school’s troubles stemming from the alleged illegal training camp that the Growling Tigers men’s basketball team held in Sorsogon during the quarantine period.
“A young man with great fighting attitude and potential,” added Perasol, whose roster for Season 84 is already chock-full of studs that include former University of the Visayas star Jancork Cabahug. (JNP)
