"So, ang akong pangutana, we are the only LTO region investigating a dealership. I am the only director, well, at least in my opinion, I refused a bribe offer, which led to this extensive investigation. So kung kami ra'y ga-imbestiga, kami ra diay ang corrupt?"

Victor Caindec, Land Transportation Office-Central Visayas director in a press conference said on Tuesday morning, Sept. 22, 2020, as he responds to corruption accusations made against him and to the earlier statement made by Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

Roque said the Palace is giving the transportation regional director a time to "shape up" for alleged corrupt practices in his office.

Caindec said a group of dealership, whom he did not name, tried to bribe him early this year to make sure that there will be no more "problem" in their new vehicle registration.

After refusing to receive the bribe, this act, he said, led LTO 7 to conduct a massive investigation on the dealership which led them to discover the dealership's alleged wrong practices including the misuse of dealer accreditation and action for tax evasion. (WBS)
