15 local, 1 LSI in Oro test positive for coronavirus

THE Cagayan de Oro Health Office has recorded 16 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, 15 of whom are local cases and one is a locally stranded individual (LSI), epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported Tuesday, September 22.

This brought the total number of confirmed coronavirus infections in the city to 598.

The 583rd case is a 43-year-old female LSI from Talisay, Cebu and a resident of Barangay Carmen. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea travel on September 11 and was immediately brought to the city isolation unit.

The woman was swabbed on September 16 and the result came out positive on September 19. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 584th case is a 48-year-old female resident of Barangay Carmen who was exposed to the 470th case, the 22-year-old woman from Zone 2, Barangay Carmen.

The 48-year-old woman was swabbed on September 16 and the result came out positive on September 19. The City Health Office identified seven close contacts.

The 585th case is a 27-year-old female resident of Barangay 14. She developed symptoms of fever and cough on September 4 and 5 and was isolated in her home. She sought consultation on September 16 at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) where she was swabbed. The result came out positive.

The City Health Office identified four direct contacts of the woman.

The 586th case is a 19-year-old female resident of Barangay Gusa. She had fever and cough and experienced loss of sense of taste and smell on September 9.

The woman was swabbed at the NMMC and the result came out positive on

September 21. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 587th case is a 27-year-old male local Authorized Person Outside Residence (Apor) residing in Barangay Carmen. He is a healthcare worker who was exposed to the 556th case, the 50-year-old man healthcare worker assigned at the Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Disease (Ereid) ward in NMMC.

According to Retuya, the 27-year-old man was on duty on September 7 until 13. He underwent mandatory quarantine at the NMMC on September 14 and on September 18, he was swabbed. The result came out positive on September 21.

At present, the man is staying at the Department of Health (DOH) isolation facility. The City Health Office identified one direct contact.

The 588th case is a 27-year-old male local Apor residing in a gated community in Barangay Kauswagan. He is a pharmacist in a private institution who was exposed to a coronavirus-positive patient.

The man had a fever, cough, and body malaise on September 15 and developed colds on September 16. He was swabbed on September 17 and the result came out positive on September 19.

At present, he is staying at the DOH isolation facility. The City Health Office identified nine direct household contacts of the man, four of whom are asymptomatic and five are symptomatic.

The 589th case is a 27-year-old female local Apor, a healthcare worker in a private hospital who was exposed to the 588th case. She is the wife of the 588th case.

The woman had a fever on September 12 and an onset of cough and colds on September 14. She was swabbed on September 17 and the result came out positive on September 19. She is currently staying at the DOH isolation facility.

The 590th case is a one-year-old female, daughter of the 588th and 589th cases. She experienced fever upon swabbing on September 17. The result came out positive on September 19. She is currently at the DOH isolation facility.

The 591st case is a 23-year-old female resident of a gated community in Barangay Kauswagan. She is the househelp of the 588th case.

The woman was swabbed on September 17 and the result came out positive on September 19. She is currently at the DOH isolation facility.

The 592nd case is a 53-year-old male local Apor residing in Barangay Carmen. According to Retuya, the man is working at the Department of Health.

He had a fever, cough and colds on September 7 and experienced loss of sense of taste and smell on September 16. He was brought to the DOH isolation facility and was swabbed on September 17. The result came out positive on September 18.

The 593rd case is a 78-year-old female resident of Barangay Carmen. She was admitted in a private hospital on September 12 due to hypoglycemia. She also has comorbidity of diabetes mellitus. She was discharged on September 14.

The woman was admitted again on September 19 due to loss of appetite. She was swabbed on September 20 and the result came out positive.

She is set to be transferred to the NMMC. The City Health Office identified six household contacts of the woman.

The 594th case is a 76-year-old male resident of Barangay 29. According to Retuya, the man visited his farm in a municipality in Misamis Oriental on September 11. He experienced shortness of breath on September 18 while he was going back to Cagayan de Oro.

He was swabbed on September 19 and the result came out positive on September 20. The City Health Office identified four close contacts of the man.

The 595th case is a 26-year-old male local Apor residing in Barangay Kauswagan. He is an employee of a government office in a municipality in Lanao del Sur. He reported for work on September 7.

Retuya said the man experienced cough on September 14 and on September 16, he went back to Cagayan de Oro via a private vehicle.

On September 17, the 26-year-old man sought consultation and was admitted in a private hospital where he was swabbed. The result came out positive on September 20. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 596th case is a 38-year-old female resident of Barangay Macabalan. She was admitted in a private hospital on September 16 for her scheduled surgery, however, her rapid diagnostic test result was positive. She was then referred to the NMMC on September 18.

The woman was swabbed on September 19 and the result came out positive. She is currently admitted at the NMMC. The City Health Office identified eight direct contacts of the woman.

The 597th case is a 61-year-old male resident of Barangay Agusan. He had symptoms of dry cough and body malaise on September 5. He was swabbed on September 19 and the result came out positive on September 20.

The man's comorbidity includes asthma and hypertension. He is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 598th case is a 32-year-old female resident of Barangay Carmen. According to Retuya, the woman attended a party on September 10 and socialized with her four friends on September 12. She experienced loss of sense of smell on September 19.

She was swabbed at the NMMC as an outpatient and the result came out positive on September 21. The City Health Office identified 17 direct contacts of the woman.

Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said that Cagayan de Oro has 219 active cases, 19 of whom are admitted at the NMMC, 165 are outpatients, and 35 are ROFs/LSIs.
