Coffee on the street

IF YOU’RE after a new coffee experience, the latest addition to Cebu’s coffee scene could tip the balance in the city’s favor—offering a break from the usual coffee shop set-ups.

A former barista from a big coffee company, Paul Anzano with his strong interest, background and experience, embarked on his own venture by putting together things he loves: Coffee, skate boards and motorcycles. Through The Coffee Mobile, he aims to promote local coffee and roasters who produce exceptional coffee that can compete with the global market.

The Coffee Mobile offers bottled cold brews (or as Paul calls them, Bottled Elixirs) in dark (bold yet smooth), white (bold and sweet creamy brew), green (rich and sweet matcha flavor) for non-coffee drinkers, and gold (rum-infused sweet creamy cold brew) flavors using high quality Mt. Apo beans. It also offers pour over using featured coffee bean of the week and Espresso beverages such as Americano, latte, cappuccino, and white chocolate latte. The Coffee Mobile also offers coffee selections using Benguet coffee beans and some imported ones roasted by local coffee roasters.

According to Paul, he has always been into skate boards and motorcycles growing up.

“Just the thought of these vehicles bringing you to different locations and the fact that you can always be on-the-go, is a reflection of The Coffee Mobile.”

With his experience as a barista, he has always been amazed of how a simple cup of coffee can genuinely connect people especially during coffee tastings, and that gave him the idea of bringing that culture to the streets.

Instead of customers going to its location, The Coffee Mobile will go places from time to time with no fixed destination.

“That’s the exciting part. The Coffee Mobile is dynamic and our location, where we will stop to sell coffee is unpredictable,” said Paul.

Its schedules and locations will be announced through its social media accounts: The Coffee Mobile on Facebook and @thecoffeemobile on Instagram, so that customers will know where to find the brown-colored coffee cart with a white umbrella.

This passion project of Paul started in the beginning of Cebu’s lockdown. With all the free time he had, he began to create the cart, while selling coffee to his neighbors.

“With all the good feedback I got from my customers who were my neighbors, I decided to sell my products online and humbly made some new customers too.”
