Contact tracing underway in San Carlos

THE City Government of San Carlos, through its Incident Management Team (IMT) headed by Mayor Renato Gustilo, said they are now undergoing contact tracing for the two new positive cases in the city.

Dr. Jessa Tiapon, overall team in-charge of the quarantine facility and on contact tracing, said Tuesday, September 22, that the new Covid-19 cases

include the couple who work at Mom's Small Hotel & Restaurant and Tyretech Shop, respectively.

She called on individuals, especially those who have visited or exposed to the two patients at the said establishments from September 4 to 21 for patient 42, who is employed at Tyretech, and September 9 to 21 for patient 43, who is a kitchen staff at Mom's, to voluntarily call the City Health Office or the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) so they can undergo the health protocol for contact tracing for their health safety.

She also encouraged the public to report to the City Health Office if they experience symptoms of Covid-19 that include fever, headache, body malaise and loss of the sense of smell and taste, so appropriate action will be done.

She said the close contacts must also maintain the necessary health protocols, including wearing of face mask and face shield and observing social distancing at all times.

She said that at present, San Carlos City has 242 individuals under quarantine, 120 of which are inside the city's healing facility while the rest are in the local hotels and in their own homes.

Gustilo, meanwhile, said the local government is doing its best to contain the spread of the disease. He urged residents to be careful and to follow the health protocols set by the government especially when outside their homes while contact tracing is going on for those who have tested positive.

He also called on the mothers to keep their children at home, not to allow their children to roam on the streets because the local hospitals cannot accommodate an influx of patients if infection spreads.

Covid-19 cases for San Carlos City is now raised to 43 confirmed cases, with two deaths and 36 recoveries. (PR)
