Firm: PH broadband costs drop by over 60%

GLOBE Telecom has announced that sustained efforts to improve its network performance over the years have resulted in more affordable internet services to its broadband customers.

The firm, in a statement, said that since 2016, the prices per gigabyte (GB) of all Globe broadband services such as Globe At Home Prepaid WiFi, Globe At Home Postpaid VDSL and Fiber and Globe at Home Postpaid LTE have gone down by more than 60 percent in the last four years.

Darius Delgado, head of Broadband Business at Globe, said investments in the network are done every year to improve internet experience at home.

Delgado said they are using the latest technologies such as 4G/LTE and 5G to improve speed and quality of experience.

"We are also accelerating the deployment of fiber optic cables to provide a seamless experience for multiple internet users inside the home," he said, adding that "as we widen our footprint for broadband, we likewise make the services more affordable."

"We have a whole range of broadband offers suited to one's budget and internet usage," Delgado added.

The telecommunication firm reported that from as high as P26 per GB, the Globe At Home Postpaid LTE has gone down to P9 per GB over the last two years, or a 65.38 percent price decrease.

Likewise, Globe at Home Prepaid WiFi customers now pay P9 per GB only from as high as P23 in 2017; P15 in 2018; and P10 in 2019, or a decrease of 60.87 percent since 2017.

Globe At Home wired customers, on the other hand, now have unlimited data access compared to paying up to P13 per GB in 2016, it said.

The company said its price per GB for its prepaid customers is also among the lowest in Southeast Asia.

Globe's P11.25 per GB with its new Go prepaid promo is more affordable compared to Thailand with P190.59; Singapore - P35.60; and Indonesia - P32.76.
