MORE police will be deployed in quarantine control points (QCP) and major tourist destinations in Baguio City once the Summer Capital welcomes the entry of tourists from Ilocos Region.
Brigadier General R’win Pagkalinawan, Police Regional Office–Cordillera (PRO-COR) regional director, said aside from the continuous implementation of border control measures, close coordination with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the City Government of Baguio will continue while making sure that only a limited number of tourists will enter the city.
“We will continue to implement a consistent policing system in observance with the minimum health protocols, particularly in restaurants and tourist destinations,” Pagkalinawan said.
The City Government recently released guidelines for the anticipated "Ridge and Reef (RnR)” travel corridor, covering the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan, and the City of Baguio.
“PRO-COR is supportive of this tourism bubble program led by the Department of Tourism and the City Government of Baguio. All the necessary security-related measures that we have implemented will remain, aside from other measures that the tourism department and the local government unit of Baguio may recommend for us to implement,” Pagkalinawan stated.
The Summer Capital will only allow 200 tourists a day on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tourists should also have obtained a clean bill of health showing negative results of their Covid-19 tests from accredited testing centers in their area.
“Quarantine control points or QCPs located at the borders or designated areas identified by the local government unit will continue to be manned by police personnel in order to assist quarantine and testing procedures with QR codes issued by the city, to be shown to police personnel at the borders,” Pagkalinawan added.
