NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is not amenable to the suggestions of a group of doctors and concerned citizens to lift the lockdowns relative to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

"This is not the right time to relax the health protocols," Lacson said. "It's not just about strengthening one's immune system by taking Vitamin C, Vitamin D and Z."

He added the targeted lockdown the group is pushing is being implemented in areas under moderate general community quarantine.

"Limiting the movement of people is the most effective way to stop the spread of Covid-19," Lacson said.

Lacson's statement is in reaction to the statement of the Concerned Doctors and Citizens of the Philippines led by former Health Secretary Jaime Galvez-Tan urging the government to end lockdowns when they launched the #FlattenTheFear campaign.
