5th batch of OFW remains from Saudi expected to arrive Sunday

THE Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) on Friday, September 25, 2020, said the fifth batch of the remains of deceased overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) are set to arrive on Sunday, September 27.

In a televised press briefing, Owwa Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said this latest batch will bring the total number of repatriated remains from KSA to 320.

"There will be the fifth mass repatriation of human remains. These are our countrymen who died in Saudi Arabia. And this is already the fifth effort during this mass repatriation," said Cacdac.

The first four batches included the remains of 267 migrant workers.

Cacdac said the number of deceased migrant workers piled up in KSA because of the travel lockdown due to the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
