"Heroes are made by the path they choose, not the powers they are graced with." -- Iron Man

TIME indeed flies so fast. It was just six months ago when our district, RI District 3790 (covering 10 provinces of Northwestern Luzon-Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Bangued, La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Zambales and Bataan) had our President Elect Training Seminar (PETS).

PETS is a training for incoming Club Presidents to prepare and inspire them into leading their clubs for the coming year. The PETS took place last March 1 to 4 at the Citic Hotel Boracay with PDG Benigno "Boboy" Valles as our District Trainer. Also in attendance was then DGE Jesus "Jess" Sama who inspired us.

With this year's theme, "Rotary Opens Opportunities", my classmates in PETS and I recently held our club inductions here in Baguio and Benguet. There are 9 Rotary clubs in Cluster 1 C, where my club also belongs. Most of them, including our club, the Rotary Club of Baguio Summer Capital (RCBSC), opted to have a physical set-up, while other clubs went virtual. We are happy to say that all the clubs have exercised the minimum health protocols. It must have been exhausting for now DG Jess to have attended to all of these events considering that there are 97 clubs in District 3790. Nevertheless, I am most certain that DG Jess and First Lady Grace enjoyed supporting all the Rotary clubs of District 3790 despite the restrictions caused by the pandemic.

Congratulations to the following and to their respective BOD and officers on their induction: Pres. Maylene Lopez (RC of Baguio North, Sept. 1), Pres. Debbie Pulido (RC of Baguio South, Sept. 9), Pres. Kelwyn Roi Tan (RC of Downtown Session, Sept. 10), Pres. Alma "Atom" Mendalla (RC of Baguio Sept. 11), Pres. Cecille Apostol (RC of Baguio Sunrise Sept. 12), Pres. Bong Villanueva Jr. (RC of Baguio Highlands, Sept.13), and Pres. Jerry Chan (RC of Metro Baguio, Sept. 16). Likewise, Godspeed to Pres. Juliet Dumpayan of RC La Trinidad whose induction is rescheduled on Nov 30. I would also want to thank my RCBSC club members for a successful induction ceremony held last September 8.

Likewise, Cluster 1C takes pride for their Rotarians who are currently District and Cluster officers: PDG Rolando Villanueva (District Rotary Public Image Chair), PP Agerico Rodriguez (District Executive Secretary), PP Vanessa Bango (District Secretary), PP Tom Panis (District New Club Development Chair), PP Jun Bondoc (District Sergeant-at-Arms), PP Hilario Apostol (Assistant Governor for Cluster 1-C), PP Allan Prado (Cluster 1-C Secretary), and Rtn. Rye Tablac (Fundraising Subcommittee Chair).

Hats off to the following clubs for the successful staging of the DISTAS (District Training Assembly) 2020 with host RCBSC last June 19-20, and the TRF Grant Management Seminar with host RC of Angeles Kuliat last July 25. Coming soon is the Public Image Seminar with host RC of San Fernando (LU) this October 29.

Superheroes are real! These Rotarians are indeed our everyday superheroes! Photos of DS Vanessa Bango, AG Larry Apostol, PE Katrina Gumaya, and Osharé. Tolitz Villanueva of the RCBSC (tolitz69glock@yahoo.com).
