SAP 2 distribution in Central Visayas now over 70% complete

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Central Visayas is now about 76.53 percent complete in its distribution of the second tranche of cash aid under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

The distribution of the second tranche of SAP for the waitlisted families and qualified drivers started two months ago.

Leah Quintana, DSWD-Central Visayas information officer, said that as of September 25, the DSWD has already paid a total of 385,533 (around 75.5 percent) of the 510,384 non-Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) low-income households in Cebu who are eligible for the SAP 2. This amounted to a total of P2,313,198,000.

Earlier, Shalaine Lucero, DSWD-Central Visayas assistant director, said they target to pay the 82,749 SAP 2 beneficiaries via their special disbursement officers while the rest will be paid through the partnered financial service providers.

The DSWD-Central Visayas has also paid a total of P1,267,308,000 to a total of 105,609 waitlisted families in the region, or those who are qualified, but were not included in the payout during the first tranche.

The payout for the waitlisted families started last July 2. Only 25,794 families or 19.63 percent of the total target beneficiaries remain unpaid as of now.

The DSWD-Central Visayas has also paid a total of 1,440 eligible public utility drivers endorsed by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board regional office, amounting to P16,986,000.

It has also spent P143,855,017.19 for a total of 320,006 family food packs to augment support to 119 local government units in the region.

Moreover, as of September 21, a total of 19,094 indigent individuals, including displaced drivers, locally stranded individuals, and repatriated overseas workers, have also benefitted from the Department's Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation, which has now spent about P34.8 million in total.

"Mga kaigsoonan nga mga nagpaabot pa nga mahatagan, paabot lang sa mga musunod nga pagpahibalo gikan sa regional office nga ipadangat sa inyong mga barangay," Quintana said. (WBS)
