ABS-CBN appoints Laurenti Dyogi as new head of Star magic

ABS-CBN TV Production Head Laurenti Dyogi was named as the new head of Star Magic.

Dyogi will assume his new designation in 2021. ABS-CBN Corporate Communications announced the news on September 25. Dyogi will take the place of the long-time head of Star Magic Mariole Alberto on January 1, 2021.

Star magic is responsible for the career management of some 300 artists of ABS-CBN. The appointment of Dyogi is part of ABS-CBN's retrenchment, according to its official statement. However, ABS-CBN acknowledges the contribution of Mariole in discovering talents for the network.

“Over the years, Mariole has been instrumental in the discovery, development and success of many of the country’s top talents. ABS-CBN would like to acknowledge and thank Mariole and Johnny Manahan or 'Mr M' for their many contributions to the company, Star Magic, and to the industry.”

Mr. M. (Johnny Manahan) is the founder and chairman emeritus of Star Magic. Mariole assisted him in managing the biggest talent management agency in the country. Among its prized talents are Piolo Pascual, Claudine Barretto, John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Angelica Panganiban, Jodi Sta. Maria, Gerald Anderson, Enrique Gil, Liza Soberano and Julia Barretto.

ABS-CBN assures Star Magic that "standards, values, and care" for talents will remain as a legacy of Mr. M at Mariole. According to ABS-CBN, Star magic will continue to discover fresh talents.

“Lauren, together with the Star Magic Team, will continue to be responsible for discovering, developing and managing talents. They will identify opportunities for our talents while ensuring that these opportunities are aligned with the talent’s equity.”

Ryza Cenon, who is due to give birth in October 2020, can't wait to be a mom. She revealed praying so hard to get pregnant.

"Sobrang timing ang lahat, blessing po talaga ang lahat ng nangyari," says the 32-year-old actress.

Two months from now, she is due to give birth to her first child with her boyfriend, cinematographer Miguel Antonio Cruz. Ryza had expressed her desire of having a baby because she was jealous that her Starstruck batchmates Mike Tan and LJ Reyes already have their children.

"I feel so blessed kasi may moment na nawalan na ako ng hope na magkakaanak ako dahil sa inverted uterus ko plus may edad na ko. Pero madalas ko na ipinagdadasal kay God na kahit bigyan lang ako ng isang anak, magiging masayang-masaya na ako. At ito nga, ibinigay ni God na kapag talagang nasa moment na nag-gi-give up ka na, saka Niya ibibigay sa iyo iyong para sa iyo."

Now that her due date is drawing near, Ryza has her fears about giving birth in the hospital because of Covid-19, but she chooses to be a positive thinker.

"Kailangan laging positive ang mindset ko habang papalapit na iyong due date ko. Na dapat magtiwala lang ako sa OB-GYNE doctor ko para maging smooth ang lahat, lalo na sa hospital ako manganganak na malaking-malaki talaga ang takot. Kaya tiwala lang talaga sa team ko kapag nag-deliver na ko."

Unlike most pregnant women, the actress didn't experience any cravings throughout her pregnancy.

"Actually, hindi ako naglihi. Sayang nga, hindi ko na-experience iyon," she says.

Ryza and her boyfriend Miguel have decided to name their son Night. She explains the reason behind the name: "We want iyong salitang Night. Hindi basta word or part ng work namin, like kapag ginagabi ka na sa trabaho, iyong nakakapagod kapag iisipin. Ngayon mas makahulugan na iyong night namin kahit nasaan kami dahil sa kanya. Siya na ang magbibigay ng light sa night namin, always good Night."

Before she got pregnant, Ryza was busy working on two upcoming projects: the period film Sa Muli and the suspense-thriller movie Rooftop. However, the shooting was stopped when the enhanced community quarantine was implemented in March 2020.
