San Fernando mayor gives nod on mall’s health, safety protocols

SAN Fernando Mayor Edwin Santiago over the weekend gave his nod and approval on SM City Pampanga’s strict compliance with the health and safety protocols in accordance with standards of the City Government of San Fernando.

This, after the mayor, accompanied by city Business License and Permit Division Chief Joseph Garcia, SM Pampanga Mall Manager Aaron Montenegro and SM Supermalls North Luzon 4 Regional Operations Manager Andrea Madlangbayan, inspected a number of tenants in the mall.

“In the inspection that we conducted, we observed that SM City Pampanga and its tenants are fully compliant to the minimum health standards in accordance with our executive order regarding health and safety protocols,” Santiago said.

He particularly cited the mandatory wearing of face masks and face shields, installation of footbaths and sanitizers and temperature check upon entry and the observance of physical distancing while inside the mall premises.

Montenegro said apart from the effective implementation of the protocols, SM City Pampanga also provides personal protective equipment to its personnel to ensure their safety while rendering services to mall-goers.

He said under the SM Cares corporate social responsibility program, the mall continuously donates goods and materials to several public and private institutions to support their Covid-19 response efforts.

Montenegro stressed SM City Pampanga makes sure that it executes the protocols 100 percent as provided in the guidelines of the city government, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Department of Trade and Industry.

He said about 85 percent of the mall’s actual number of tenants have resumed active operations and more stores are set to open in the coming months. Among the newly opened stores at the mall are Pacsafe Smart Travel Gear and Lacoste Shoes.

Montenegro said this was a good indication that the usual operations and food traffic are slowly coming back.

Aside from its strict adherence to health protocols to help in controlling the spread of the coronavirus disease, SM City Pampanga was also recognized for helping the city government get the local economy back on track heading towards the new normal. (PR)
