Army recovers NPA war materials, slain soldier's belongings

VARIOUS war materials and personal belongings of a soldier who was murdered were recovered by the soldiers in Sitio Ilihan, Barangay Buenavista, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental on September 23.

The recovery was made by the Army's 62nd Infantry Battalion while conducting a follow-up operation in response to the revelation of Adidas Acero alias Baldo or BJ, vice commanding officer of Leonardo Panaligan Command, about the hidden war materials buried in the said place.

Seized from the area are two hundred rounds live ammunition of AK47, one meter detonating cord with firing device, subversive documents, personal documents of late Corporal Mark Anthony Quiocson, one PhilHealth identification card, OR/CR of Kawasaki KLX motorcycle, and two PAFCFIC passbooks.

Quiocson, a member of 62IB Community Support Program Team, was murdered by four unidentified members of the Special Partisan Unit of the NPA in Sitio Compound, Barangay Luz Guihulngan City in Negros Oriental on July 2020.

In his statement, Major General Eric Vinoya said the discovery of the NPA's buried war material and stolen stuffs is a big help for the authorities in identifying the responsible individuals behind the murder of Quicson.

"Aside from pinpointing the perpetrators, this will likewise help us in filing additional charges against the murderers," Vinoya added.
