70 Central Luzon entrepreneurs join virtual Otop trade fair

ENTREPRENEURS from Central Luzon participated in the recently concluded One Town, One Product (Otop) Virtual Trade Fair 2020 hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

DTI-Central Luzon Director Judith Angeles said 70 micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) participated in the program, which was streamed live daily at the Otop Philippines Facebook page from September 24 to 28.

Angeles said the program aims to help MSMEs promote their products nationwide and abroad despite the ongoing pandemic.

Among the Central Luzon products exhibited and sold during the virtual fair were Sabutan and beauty products from Aurora, handicrafts and marine products from Bataan, sweets and delicacies and wood products from Bulacan, linen, herbal and dairy products from Nueva Ecija, delicacies, nuts and leathercraft from Pampanga, sauces, condiments and macramé products from Tarlac, and processed fruit, bayong, bags and face masks from Zambales.

Although the event was concluded, Angeles urged the public to continue supporting local products by purchasing via online.

Meanwhile, DTI Undersecretary Blesila Lantayona said the objective of the fair is to have buyers meet, source and connect to the best of the homegrown exhibitors digitally.

She added that this will boost the promotion of Otop products and sustain MSME development, which serves as the powerful engine of the country's economic growth.
