San Carlos launches 'Search for Sipaway Environment Friendly Homestay'

THE City Government of San Carlos, through the City Environment Management Office, launched its Search for Sipaway Environment Friendly Homestay Year I last September 24-25.

Fourteen homestays were evaluated for the search, which aimed at making Sipaway Island homestays sustainable and within the parameters of cleanliness, practice of proper waste disposal and posting of environmental related Information Education Communication campaign materials.

Other factors to consider include beautification, landscaping and presence of operational Material Recovery Facility, garbage containers and rain water collector.

Operators of homestays should have also attended training on environment, health and sanitation and disaster risk reduction management.

The City Environment Management Office facilitated the said search with Engr. Magnolia Antonio, City Planning and Development Coordinator officer; Michael Joseph Rizalde, Ma. Awani Hotel Housekeeping head; and Vicente Homer Gonzales Jr., of the San Carlos City Organized Rescuers for Community Assistance Incorporated representative as judges. (PR)
