THE Department of Education-Central Visayas (DepEd 7), on Sept. 22, 2020, granted the Municipality of San Fernando the permit to establish an Open and Night High School that offers a junior high school education course for children with "special circumstances" effective this school year 2020-2021.

In his Facebook post on Tuesday, Sept. 29, Victor Ybañez, San Fernando Schools District Supervisor, said this is an alternative high school that caters to the out-of-school youth, the children in conflict with the law, and those students with other special circumstances in their lives.

The school, located at North Poblacion, San Fernando, Cebu is the 32nd school in the Municipality, Ybañez said.

"Thanks to the Municipal School Board for the continuing support in all educational endeavors in the town. A gift to the children of the municipality and the next generation to come!" Ybañez said on his Facebook post.

Salustiano Jimenez, DepEd 7 director, in a signed copy of the permit to open and establish a school posted by Ybañez, directed the Schools Division Superintendent concerned to closely coordinate with the local government unit or Local School Board for the additional cost of that school relative to the hiring of teaching and non-teaching personnel, maintenance, and other operating expenses, construction of additional classrooms, procurement of crucial resources and acquisition of instructional materials and equipment.

"Pending the inclusion of the school with the EBEIS for budgetary allocation, such expenditures shall be borne by the Local Government Unit and Local School Board, however, with adherence to DepEd Order No. 20 s. of 2017 "Revised Guidelines on the Use of Special Funds," reads a portion of the permit.

EBEIS stands for Enhanced Basic Education Information System. (WBS)
