Cebu City tax deadline stands

THE Sept. 30, 2020 tax deadline will not be extended, announced Cebu City Treasurer Mare Vae Reyes.

Reyes said penalties will now be imposed on taxpayers in Cebu City who had failed to meet the deadline in the payment of their business taxes and real property taxes (RPT).

Sept. 30 was the deadline for the payment of business taxes for the second and third quarter and the payment of RPT for the first, second and third quarters of 2020.

Cebu City Treasurer Mare Vae Reyes said there will be a two percent interest charge on unpaid tax every month.

For business taxes, there will be an additional 25 percent surcharge.

Reyes urged taxpayers to settle their dues immediately through an online payment system established by the City Treasurer’s Office so that people would no longer have to go out of their homes to pay their taxes.

For RPT, click online tax pay; select real property tax; enter user identification card and password or click create account; register real property units; click assessment request; and click pay now.
