Don Salvador Benedicto town allows operations of coffee shops, restos with restrictions

COFFEE shops and restaurants in the town of Don Salvador Benedicto are allowed to open despite tightened border protocols starting Thursday, October 1, Mayor Marxlene Dela Cruz said Wednesday.

"We will have border control. There will be some questions when passing by but those who will not stay overnight or longer in the town will be allowed entry," Dela Cruz said.

In an advisory posted on its Facebook page, the municipal government laid down its health protocols.

"All Salvadorians coming from Bacolod City and other areas in Negros Occidental will have to undergo a mandatory 14-day home quarantine with exception of frontliners, essential workers or authorized person outside residence (Apor), provided that they can present government or company valid ID," the advisory said.

It also said Salvadorians going to Bacolod City and other areas in Negros Occidental for essential transactions and staying there for not more than 24 hours will not be considered as persons under monitoring (PUM).

All transient essential workers (public laborers, engineers, etc.), peddlers, collectors, non-essential or tourism-related travelers/visitors will have to abide by the following protocols and requirements:

1. Must follow minimum health standards including but not limited to wearing of face masks, face shields practice social distancing and observe frequent hand washing

2. Must secure and bring the following: Medical certificate issued by their respective City Health Office or Municipal Health Office certifying that they are fit to travel or certification from their respective barangays that they are not PUMs or PUIs and indicating results of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testSS if done; Valid Government Issued ID; 2020 business permit issued by the municipality of DSB (for peddlers and collector).

All establishments must practice and observe the 50 percent venue capacity, must have the official logbook (name, age, sex, address, contact Number) and must have their protection policy for workers and customers.

All accommodation establishments that cater to receptions for baptism, weddings, birthdays, conferences, prenuptial, etc. must submit their guestlists before their entry or days before entering Don Salvador Benedicto.

"The said guestlists will be submitted to the local IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) and Barangay Border Concern for verification at the checkpoint upon entry," it added.

The Don Salvador Benedicto municipal government called on the public "for patience and understanding."

"We are doing this for the protection of everyone because the health and safety of our lives are the most important. Let’s cooperate and unite so that we can beat this together," the advisory said.
