Covid-positive NMMC employees now at 30

THE total number of employees at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) who tested positive for the novel coronavirus has reached 30 as of Thursday, October 1, liaison officer Dr. Bernard Rocha said.

Of the 30 coronavirus-positive employees, 13 are nurses, nine are doctors, three are pharmacists, three are nursing attendants, one is a radiologic technologist and one admin.

A nurse-in-service, although not an employee of the hospital, also tested positive for Covid-19, Rocha said.

He added that ten of the 30 NMMC employees have already recovered from the virus, five of whom are doctors and five are nurses.

During the city's daily press conference on October 1, City Health Office Epidemiologist reported 26 new confirmed Covid-positive cases in Cagayan de Oro. Among the new cases, three are healthcare workers from NMMC:

- The 802nd case is a 31-year-old female local authorized person outside residence (Apor) residing in Barangay 18. She developed colds on September 25. She was swabbed on September 28 and the result came out positive. The woman is currently admitted to the NMMC.

- The 803rd case is a 42-year-old male local Apor residing in Barangay 13. He was exposed to the 718th case, the 63-year-old woman healthcare worker from Barangay Gusa. The man developed colds on September 21. He was swabbed at the NMMC and the result came out positive. He is currently admitted to the said hospital.

- The 806th case is a 43-year-old female local Apor residing in Barangay Patag. According to Retuya, the woman attended a gathering on September 24. She experienced a loss of sense of smell and taste on September 27. She was swabbed on September 28 and the result came out positive on September 29. She is currently admitted to the NMMC. The City Health Office identified 11 direct contacts of the woman.

Retuya said a total of 41 healthcare workers in Cagayan de Oro City tested positive for Covid-19, as of October 1. The 30 NMMC employees are included in the number.
