Goho: Human finitude

NO ONE ever thinks about getting cancer, but somehow this debilitating disease is a reminder of the fragility and limitations of our finite mortality. Somehow it brings about an inescapable impact in humbling us down on complex matters of the unknown.

While we may often get so caught up in many pursuits of worldliness, there are absolute limits as to what our time on earth can offer us. We can drive the fanciest cars, amass wealth, travel beautiful places and pursue many passions. But somehow there is a lack and an emptiness that prevails once all of such matters have been exhausted in full.

While we live in a great big world full of beauties and complexities that provide varieties of pleasures, as human beings, each of us struggles everyday to get somewhere, fill a void, grow significantly in various aspects, whether it is our careers, relationships, or well-being. There is no denying, we all try to aim at something as we get up every morning; love, fulfillment, success, etc.

And in this quest, there are many difficulties and tests that can either add to our optimism or contribute to our cynicism. These experiences may either mold us or break us, make us better or worse, create more order or chaos, produce more peace or instability and ultimately either strengthen or weaken our character.

All these along with dealing with our own inner turmoils with flaws and dysfunctionalities, as well as matters of uncertainty as to what may come, and fears of the unknown that make us all the more susceptible to detrimental effects to our mind and soul.

All these make life extremely mysterious. But the indomitable spirit of humanity has reflected on a rather strong fervor towards positivity and betterment particularly when objectivity is applied, but there are definitely many dangers when our gift of free will is greatly abused. This abuse has undoubtedly contributed to the many destructions and disorders within us and around us.

Ultimately, an awakening to objective truth is essential in dealing with the many burdensome responsibilities, challenges, uncertainties and sufferings of life.
