Drug personality killed; P20.4-M shabu seized

AN ALLEGED big-time drug personality was killed, while some P20.4 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in a drug bust in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Friday, October 2.

Police Brigadier General Jesus Cambay Jr., Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the slain drug personality as Mansor Mangoda of Igat village, Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur.

Cambay said Mangoda was killed in a shootout around 4:20 p.m. Thursday, October 1, in Digon village, Margosatubig.

The shootout ensued after Mangoda pulled a handgun and opened fire. He, however, missed his target, prompting a member of the operating team to return fire, hitting the suspect.

Cambay said the suspect was rushed to the Margosatubig Regional Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Recovered from the suspect were three kilograms of shabu worth P20.4 million and a caliber .45 pistol. (SunStar Zamboanga)
