DURING the distribution of modules from Oct. 1 to 2, 2020, the schools under the Department of Education (DepEd) Mandaue Division did not meet any problems.
Estela Susvilia, the assistant school division superintendent, said they did not encounter any problems in distributing the modules since they had formulated the learning continuity plan since May and held several dry runs in all schools two weeks prior to the actual distribution of modules.
In following health protocol, Susvilia was grateful for the support of the barangays that offered their services, from the transport of the modules through their vehicles to guiding the parents and assisting the teachers during the distribution.
She was also grateful for the cooperation and participation of the parents by coming to the designated distribution areas and claiming the modules for their children.
Susvilia shared that they have a big turnout in public schools because some students from private schools transferred to public schools.
She added that some private schools in Mandaue City have written a letter of intent to close this school year because of the low number of enrollees.
On the other hand, the DepEd Mandaue Division claimed that it is ready for the opening of classes on Oct. 5.
Susvilia said they provided load allowance for all the teachers so they can use it for communicating with and monitoring the learners and the parents in answering the modules.
Thus, the City Government also contemplated giving load allowance to teachers, said Susvilia.
Although they have handed out the modules to the students, Susvilia said, the teachers are on-call from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays to guide the students and parents in answering the modules.
Meanwhile, Oct. 5 will also be the National Kick-off of DepEd in celebrating World Teacher’s Day.
Susvilia said they will celebrate it virtually.
“We need to give appreciation to all teachers because they worked hard in making the modules and they do their best to do their work and adapt to different modalities of teaching,” she added. (KFD)
