Negros Oriental logs 14 recoveries, 2 new Covid-19 cases

THE province of Negros Oriental has recorded two new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19), as well as 14 recoveries as of Friday, October 2.

Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Liland Estacion, the health committee chair of the province's Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), said in a press briefing the two new Covid-19 confirmed cases are locally stranded individuals (LSIs) from the municipality of Pamplona and Bais City.

The two new infections are a 34-year-old-male from Pamplona who returned to the province from Bulacan via a 2GO vessel that docked at the Dumaguete City port on September 23; and a 40-year-old male from Bais City who arrived at the seaport from Taguig City, Metro Manila via a 2GO vessel on September 22.

Estacion said that on Thursday, October 1, they received 340 throat swab results from Cebu City, including 338 negative and the two new positive, with 14 recoveries.

The recoveries are from Bacong (2), Bais City (3), Bayawan City (2), Canlaon City (5), San Jose (1) and Zamboanguita (1), she said.

As of October 2, a total of 6,475 persons in Negros Oriental have been swabbed, with 223 pending results from testing centers in Cebu, she added.

The total case count for Covid-19 confirmed cases in Negros Oriental is 185, with 161 recoveries, 19 active cases, and five deaths.

The LGUs in Negros Oriental that have positive cases are Sibulan (2), Amlan (2), Pamplona (1), Bais City (7), Mabinay (2), La Libertad (2) and Canlaon City (3). (PNA)
