Hashish worth P5.6M seized in San Fernando

JOINT police operatives seized on October 5 some P5.6 million worth of suspected hashish during a buy-bust operation along Jose Abad Santos Avenue in the City of San Fernando.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon Director Rhodel Sermonia said joint operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit, Regional Intelligence Division-Special Concern Unit 3 and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Luzon under the supervision of Police Colonel Pedro Soliba, conducted the operation, which resulted in the arrest of Roland Dela Rama, a resident of Barangay Buscalan, Tinglayan, Kalinga.

Seized from Dela Rama were 20 small bricks of resinous substance suspected to be marijuana hashish, weighing more or less 2,000 grams and with a street value of more or less P5.6 million.

The hashish was placed inside a milk powder box.

Also recovered were one Nokia keypad cellphone, one brown coin purse, two P1,000 peso bills and three bundles of P1,000 boodle money.

Appropriate charges for violation of Section 5 Article II of Republic Act 9165 is now being readied for filing in court against the suspect.

"We continue working double time to stop the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region, as we are relentless in our anti-drug operations," Sermonia said. (Ric Sapnu)
