New Central Luzon cop chief directed to work on illegal drugs, anti-insurgency

"INTENSIFY the anti-illegal drugs and anti-insurgency programs in Central Luzon."

This was the marching order of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Camilo Cascolan to newly installed Police Regional Office (PRO) Central Luzon Director Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon, who assumed his position on Wednesday morning, October 7, 2020.

Cascolan led the change of command from former PRO-Central Luzon Director Brigadier General Rhodel Sermonia to De Leon in a ceremony held in Camp Olivas.

In an interview with local media, Cascolan said peace and order in Central Luzon will be ensured if the proliferation of illegal drugs and insurgency will be halted.

"Continuous implementation of anti-criminality, especially anti-illegal drugs and anti-insurgency, is always the key to attain lasting peace and order in Central Luzon and that is what our new regional director should focus into," Cascolan said.

He also assured all community outreach programs initiated by Sermonia will be continued not only in Central Luzon but in the whole of the Philippines.

De Leon vowed to carry out all projects and programs of the PNP to Central Luzon during his leadership.

De Leon is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Makatao Class of 1989 and a classmate of Sermonia.

Before his designation as PRO-Central Luzon's top cop, he was the deputy director of the Directorate for Human Resource Doctrine and Development.
