Bacon faces Dallera in Miami

AFTER his scheduled fight in August was cancelled, James Bacon finally makes his US debut on Oct. 17, 2020 in Miami, Florida.

Bacon takes on an easier assignment as he faces off with Argentinean Gonzalo Dallera at the Manual Artime Community Center.

Bacon, a native of Mandaue City, is fighting alongside stablemate and fellow former ALA Boy Mark Bernaldez, who’ll be taking on Ezequiel Tevez on the same card.

The 30-year-old Bacon was supposed to fight unbeaten Alexis Rocha for the World Boxing Council (WBC) Continental Americas welterweight belt in the undercard of the Jorge Linares vs. Javier Fortuna show on Aug. 28, 2020 in Indio, California. The event, however, was scrapped after Linares tested positive for Covid-19.

Bacon, who now fights under Sanman Promotions, last saw action on Nov. 16, 2019 and lost to Darragh Foley by unanimous decision in Australia.

Bacon retired in 2012 but decided to return to boxing in 2019. He won three straight fights in the Philippines before losing to Foley.

The 32-year-old Dallera shouldn’t post a threat to Bacon. He’ll be more of an activity fight.

Dallera lost his last four fights. His latest defeat was in the hands of 20-year-old prospect Branden Pizzaro, who knocked him out in five rounds in February.

Bacon, who trains at Moro’s Gym in Miami, is 23-4 with 15 knockouts, while Dallera is 6-8 with four knockouts. (EKA)
