ANOTHER batch of agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (Arbos) in the northern part of Negros Occidental have received farm productivity support from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

DAR-Negros Occidental I, through its "Passover: Arbold Move to Heal as One Deliverance our Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries from the Covid-19 Pandemic" project, assisted three Arbos in Sagay City and Manapla town.

In Sagay City, the Laon Farmers Association at Barangay Colonia Divina received 147 sacks of vermicompost, 23 sacks of fertilizers, 11 sacks of Urea, four packs of ampalaya seeds and hand shovels, three packs of eggplant seeds bundled with rakes, 10 packs of string beans and hoes.

In Manapla town, the agency also extended support to the Dapdap Agrarian Reform Cooperative.

It received three bags of fertilizers, one bag of Urea, three packs of ampalaya seeds and hand shovels, one pack of eggplant seeds bundled with a rake, one pack of string beans and a hoe.

The Guin-olayan Agrarian Reform Cooperative, on the other hand, received 45 bags of fertilizers, 23 bags of Urea, 35 packs of ampalaya seeds and hand shovels, 22 packs of eggplant seeds bundled with rakes, 20 packs of string beans and hoes.

Teodoro Che Salido, section chief of Enterprise Development and Economic Support under the Program Beneficiaries Development Division (PBDD), said the project is positioned to help farmer-beneficiaries.

"This will assist them in ensuring that their agricultural production, livelihood and income will continue during this public health crisis," he said, adding that these farmers, in turn, should also ensure sustained supply of adequate, affordable, and safe food necessary for other consumers.

The project that provides production inputs is positioned to help them generate income from surplus production while meeting the nutritional requirements of their households.

The production support is given to the farmers for growing of cash crops and vegetables in 500 to 2,500 square meters per ARB taking into consideration their preferences, the scale of operation, economic viability and market demand.

It will cover 7,000 hectares nationwide and is expected to benefit 90,839 ARBs.

In Negros Occidental, several farmers organizations have already received the same support from the agency.
