Miss Universe Philippines candidates to visit Benguet

MORE than 50 candidates of Miss Universe Philippines will visit Benguet on October 15 and 16.

Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas, during the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force for Covid-19 meeting on Tuesday, October 6, said the visit of Miss Universe Philippines candidates aims to promote the province.

He added the candidates will be having a photoshoot in various areas in La Trinidad, such as the provincial Capitol, strawberry fields, and Mt. Costa.

Diclas said the Filipina beauties will also be having activity in Baguio City.

He said their visit will be done by batch and on the night of October 16, there would be a cultural show.

He said the visit is being coordinated with the Philippine National Police to ensure proper health protocols.

The program is an initiative of Benguet caretaker and ACT-CIS Partylist Representative Eric Go Yap that is geared to boost tourism in the province.

Diclas assured that photoshoots will be done by batches to ensure minimum health protocols are observed.

As a province-led activity, La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda said the capital town directed the local police to provide security to the candidates and the Miss Universe entourage.

Salda also directed Orlando Pacya, municipal cooperative development officer, to prepare local products during the photoshoot.

The Miss Universe Philippines coronation night was initially set on May 3 but it was moved to June 14 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was again postponed and later on moved to October 25.
