THE Department of Education (DepEd) Pampanga Schools Division, in partnership with the Provincial Government, launched on Monday, October 5, the "Super-K Teleskwela" TV program for the school year 2020-2021.

Some 337,280 Kapampangan students from kinder to senior high school who enrolled in public schools this year joined the virtual classes co-produced by the Pampanga Provincial Information Office (PIO) with DepEd-Pampanga and aired at a local television network in the City of San Fernando.

Board Member Anthony Joseph Torres, committee chairperson on education, said Governor Dennis Pineda wants to ensure that through this program, Kapampangan students will continue their education amid the threat brought by the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

"Maganda ang naging paghahanda ng probinsya sa pagbubukas ng klase sa pakikipagtulungan ni Governor Delta at ng Provincial Government sa DepEd officials at PTA (Parent Teacher Association) officers. We hope na magpatuloy pa ito upang matulungan ang ating mga kabataan," he said.

According to Celia Lacanlale, Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) chief, the Super-K Teleskwela TV program aims to provide students with educational modules patterned after Pampanga's social and cultural background, to easily facilitate learning among grade three to senior high school Kapampangan learners.

"Ours is different sa pinroproduce ng central office natin sa IBC 13. Sa Super-K Teleskwela, we made sure na highly contextualized yung mga learning materials natin to Pampanga para hindi mahihirapan ang mga estudyante," she said.

She added that a total of 300 local teachers from their division were trained in coordination with the PIO to produce more than 2,000 educational TV episodes to complement modular lessons as the government prohibited face-to-face classes.

Students, meanwhile, applauded the efforts of the government to help them address the challenges brought by distance learning.

"Maganda po yung Super-K, at least nagagabayan po kami ng mga magulang at kapatid namin sa school kasi delikado na po baka mahawa tayo," said Karl Ocampo, Grade 6 student from San Fernando Elementary School.

Sometime this year, the Provincial Government has committed to support DepEd's distance learning program by shouldering the expenses for the purchase of 74 units of risograph machines, 12 editing machines and video cameras, as well as payment for the television airtime and production cost intended for Super-K Teleskwela.
