BEING on strict bed rest while expecting their twin boys in 2019, managing the household efficiently was quite challenging for Katrina Laurel-Tuason.

Thankfully, though, technology came to the rescue. With the touch of her fingertips, she could call or order online and have groceries and other goods swiftly delivered. Seeing how convenient this was, the new mom thought it would be a timely idea to open retail and delivery on-demand services in Davao.

As soon as the pandemic hit, there was even more urgency to open Business-to-Consumer (B2C) services. Kat’s husband Andy quickly called his friends, Clark Yap and Edward Bangayan, and pitched the idea. Shortly after, Davao Delivery was born.

“With nearly 20 years of retail expertise, Davao Delivery’s founding partners are helping Dabawenyo families navigate their new normal by eliminating barriers that prevent them from accessing their household’s most in-demand needs,” says Andy, who is the managing director and president of Davao Delivery.

Online marketplace

“Davao Delivery is an online marketplace and delivery service provider. We do not have our own products, but we have our own fully equipped and trained in-house delivery team that will service your orders,” shares Andy.

Currently, it has partnered with vendors such as Save-On Drugstore, Felcris Supermarket, Davao Central Convenience Store, Schinticide Disinfectant, Mother's Choice, Mindanao Butchers & Co., Metro Plaza, Gourmet Deli, GH Office Depot, Sammito Plastic, S-OIL Oils and Lubricants, Hercules Foam, Rooke + Reese and Echo Store.

On the other hand, their partner restaurants include Taste of Home, Cookiephile, Seagreen Café, Common Space, Tuna CT and Alibaba Shawarma.

The good news is that Davao Delivery’s website’s products have the same prices as the actual stores’ suggested retail price (SRP). Moreover, the company makes sure that its partner restaurants keep 100 percent of their profits.

“The rise of Covid-19 definitely expedited the influx of delivery services, but at whose expense? We believe we are the perfect balance between the large multinational corporations that rule the global markets and the local MSMEs (micro, small, medium enterprises) that have established themselves early,” Andy explains.

Safety is their priority

Initially open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Davao Delivery’s operating hours will soon increase to cater to dinner service and late-night convenience purchases.

“We are presently running a promo price of P100 for all areas in Davao we cover. Outside those areas, we follow a base delivery fee of P99 for the first three kilometers and an additional P15 for every succeeding kilometer,” Andy says.

For all Felcris orders, riders will be dispatched at 11:30 a.m. (for orders received after cut-off at 4 p.m.) and 3 p.m. (for all orders received during the current workday). For all other vendors, orders will be processed as soon as orders and payments are confirmed. Payment options include cash on delivery, online bank transfer, GCash and over-the-counter payments.

Davao Delivery prides itself on prioritizing safety. It endeavors to “keep its packages safe from damage; customers and staff safe from the virus; and all transactions safe from fraud”. In addition, it carefully trains its staff and riders to disinfect not only themselves but the packages and items they deliver to every customer.

“The strength of a village, the power of community and the resilience of Dabawenyos will all play a role in Davao Delivery’s success and our partner vendors’ as well. We look forward to seeing more Davao consumers online at www.davaodelivery.com,” ends Andy with great enthusiasm.
