TALISAY City, which was earlier reported to have the highest number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Negros Occidental excluding Bacolod City, has noted a "fast-rising" recovery rate, which is now at 81 percent.
The City Government, in a statement, said it has surpassed the provincial recovery rate of 63 percent and the regional rate of 70 percent.
The city is also nearing the national recovery rate at 83 percent, it added.
City Health Officer Dr. Joy Gladys Guanzon reported a total Covid-19 caseload of 550, as of October 9.
Of the confirmed cases, 86 (15.6 percent) are still active, 448 (81.4 percent) have recovered and 16 (2.9 percent) have died.
At present, 17 barangays are already recording single-digit active cases.
Meanwhile, a total of eight barangays now have zero active cases.
These include Barangays Zones 10, 11, 14, San Fernando, Matab-ang and Barangay Zone 14-A as the latest addition.
These are on top of Barangays Cabatangan and Katilingban which maintained Covid-free statuses.
