Cagayan de Oro Covid-19 cases breach 1,000-mark

CAGAYAN de Oro City has crossed the 1,000-mark as it logged 33 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the city to 1,017, epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported Friday, October 9.

Of the 33 new cases, 25 are local cases, five are persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), two are locally stranded individuals (LSIs), and one is a returning overseas Filipino worker (ROF).

According to Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery, of the 25 local cases, five are close contacts of previously confirmed cases.

The new Covid-19 cases in Cagayan de Oro City are:

985th case: a 26-year-old male ROF, resident of Barangay Bulua, who arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) on September 27 and was swabbed upon arrival. He stayed in an accommodation facility while waiting for the result.

The man arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on September 29 on September 29 and was brought to the city isolation unit. He was swabbed on October 5 and the result came out positive on October 8. He is asymptomatic and has no comorbidity.

986th case: a 50-year-old male LSI resident of Barangay 18, who arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on September 30. He was swabbed on October 5 and the result came out positive on October 8. He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

987th case: a one-year-old male LSI and a resident of Barangay Bonbon, who arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane together with his family on September 30. He was swabbed on October 5 and the result came out positive on October 8. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

988th case: a 28-year-old female resident of Barangay Lapasan, who is a retagged case from Camiguin. She traveled to Camiguin on October 1 and is currently under quarantine. She was swabbed on October 3 and the result came out positive on October 8.

989th case: a 40-year-old male resident of Barangay Patag, who works as a security officer. He had an onset of cough and fever and was admitted to the JR Borja General Hospital on September 29 due to loss of sense of smell. He is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified five direct contacts of the man.

990th case: a 21-year-old female local authorized person outside residence (Apor) from Macasandig, who works as an employee at the Department of Health (DOH). He is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The woman attended a gathering on September 27 and had an onset of fever and experienced loss of sense of taste on September 30. The City Health Office identified six close contacts of the woman.

991st case: a 53-year-old male resident of Barangay Puntod, who was exposed to his father, the 825th case. His last day of exposure was on September 29. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

992nd case: a 23-year-old female resident of Barangay Kauswagan, who was exposed to her father, the 965th case. She is a bank employee who assisted her father who was admitted to a private hospital on October 3. She was also the watcher of her father from October 4 to 6. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified five close contacts of the woman.

993rd case: a 53-year-old female resident of Barangay Kauswagan, who was exposed to her husband, the 965th case. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified four direct contacts of the woman.

994th case: a 42-year-old male resident of Barangay 26, who is a private employee and was exposed to his co-worker, the 917th case. His last day of exposure was on October 6. He was admitted to a private hospital on October 7.

The City Health Office identified three direct contacts of the man.

995th case: a 26-year-old male resident of Barangay Lapasan, who was exposed to his co-worker, the 917th case. His last day of duty was on October 5 and his last day of exposure was on October 6. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified one household contacts of the man.

996th case: a 72-year-old male resident of Barangay Puntod, who had an onset of cough and fever and was admitted to a private hospital.

The City Health Office identified three household contacts of the man.

997th case: a 33-year-old male resident of Barangay Pagatpat, who is a private employee. He picked up his co-worker on September 25, who he claimed tested positive for Covid-19. He underwent self-quarantine on September 29 and was transferred to an isolation facility on October 7.

The City Health Office identified one direct contact of the man.

998th case: a 56-year-old female resident of Barangay Bugo, who works as a supervisor in a factory in the said barangay. She is currently admitted to a hospital in Bukidnon.

The City Health Office identified eight direct contacts of the woman.

999th case: a 41-year-old male resident of a gated community in Barangay Carmen. He had an onset of cough and started working from home on October 5. He is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,000th case: a 37-year-old female resident of a gated community in Barangay Carmen. She is the wife of the 999th case. She had sore throat on October 4 and had a cough on October 5. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified one household contact of the woman.

1,001st case: a 35-year-old female resident of Barangay 2, who had an onset of flu-like symptoms and difficulty breathing on October 4. She was admitted to a private hospital on October 5.

The City Health Office identified four direct contacts of the woman.

1,002nd case: a 26-year-old male resident of Barangay Bayabas, who works as a customer service representative. He had an onset of fever on October 3.

The City Health Office identified nine close contacts of the man.

1,003rd case: a 26-year-old female resident of Barangay Gusa, who is a private employee. She was admitted to a private hospital on October 4 due to pneumonia.

The City Health Office identified one direct contact of the woman.

1,004th case: a 72-year-old female resident of Barangay Lapasan, who had chest pain and body malaise on October 2 and was brought to a private hospital on October 6. She was referred to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) on October 6.

The woman died in the afternoon on October 8. The City Health Office identified eight household contacts.

1,005th case: a 37-year-old male resident of Barangay Gusa, who had difficulty in breathing on September 21. He went to NMMC for consultation on September 26 and was admitted on October 7.

The City Health Office identified seven close contacts of the man.

1,006th case: a 31-year-old female resident of Barangay Carmen, who had a history of travel to a municipality in Bukidnon on September 25. She attended a burial on September 26 in the said province. She experienced shortness of breath and loss of sense of taste and smell on September 29. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro on September 30.

The City Health Office identified four household contacts of the woman.

1,007th case: a 15-year-old female resident of Barangay Camaman-an. She is a postpartum case who experienced vaginal bleeding on September 30. She went into labor in JR Borja General Hospital. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified six direct contacts of the woman.

1,008th case: a 45-year-old female local Apor, a healthcare worker at DOH, residing in Barangay Bugo. She had an onset of cough, colds and fever.

The City Health Office identified seven close contacts of the woman.

1,009th case: a 30-year-old male local Aor residing in Barangay Bulua. The City Health Office identified six household contacts of the man.

1,010th case: a 33-year-old female local Apor residing in Barangay Bulua, who is the wife of the 1,009th case. The City Health Office identified six household contacts of the woman.

1,011th case: a 28-year-old female local Apor residing in a gated community in Barangay Balulang, who works as a government employee. She experienced loss of sense of taste and smell.

1,012th case: a 29-year-old male local Apor, who is the husband of the 1,011th case. The City Health Office identified 12 direct contacts of the man.

1,013th case: a 59-year-old male PDL from Barangay Camaman-an, who was detained in Police Station 2 in Cogon on September 13. He was transferred to the Cagayan de Oro City Jail in Barangay Lumbia on September 23.

1,014th case: a 34-year-old male PDL from Barangay Carmen, who was transferred to the city jail on September 23.

1,015th case: a 32-year-old male PDL from Barangay Kauswagan, who was detained in Police Station 2 in Cogon on September 11. He was transferred to the city jail.

1,016th case: a 52-year-old male PDL from Barangay Carmen, who was detained in Police Station 8 on August 20. He is a known tuberculosis patient.

1,017th case: a 27-year-old male PDL from Barangay Nazareth, who was detained in Police Station 7 on September 9 and was transferred to the city jail on September 23.

Cagayan de Oro has registered 21 newly recovered Covid-positive patients, bringing the total number of recoveries in the city to 627.

The city has 344 active cases, 20 of whom are admitted to the NMMC, 314 are outpatients and 10 are ROFs/LSIs.
