PCAP 1st online try-out set Oct. 17

THE Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) has set its initial online try-out schedule for the draft of players on October 17, 2020, at 7 p.m.

CAP founder and league commissioner Atty. Paul Elauria, earlier, said that “No ELO rating limit for players, but those with a rating above 2000 for males, and 1950 for females should join the draft. Lower rated players may be hired directly by the teams.”

He added each team is composed of seven players consisting of two open-rated, a lady, a senior who can be hand-picked from the draft. Also, there will be three more homegrown players that can be directly-hired if their ratings are below 2000. “The league has increased the number of homegrown players from 2 to 3 for total playing boards of 7 from the original of 6,” he added.

Interested players may register in the link posted in the PCAP FB account.

Meanwhile, the second online qualification will be in the second or third week of November. The organizing of teams, on the other hand, will commence from the draft day until the end of December 2020.
