BFAR-Western Visayas accepts scholarship application

THE Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Western Visayas has opened the scholarship application for senior high school graduates and graduating students for school year 2021 to 2025.

The agency's Fisheries Scholarship Program (FSP) is offering a four-year scholarship for a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries degree.

The FSP has three program components including Fisheries Industry Leader Grant (FILG), which is for high school or Grade 12 students who belong to the Top 10 of their graduating class.

The Fisherfolk Children Educational Grant (FCEG) is for high school or Grade 12 students whose parents are Mangingisdang Juan or are registered in the Juan Magsasaka Registration System.

Another component is the FSP-Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (FSP-ICC/IPs).

This is intended for poor but deserving students whose parents are members of a particular tribe recognized by the National Commission on Indigenous People.

The agency, in a statement, said chosen scholars will receive a full scholarship, a monthly stipend of P 2,000, a semestral book allowance of P2,000, OJT support worth P3,000, Research/Thesis/Special Problem support of P7,000, and Graduation Support P1,500.

The deadline for submission of the application form with complete documents is on October 30.

A nationwide competitive examination will be conducted on December 5 in testing centers to be identified per province.

Twenty-six scholars will be selected per region broken into three scholarship components, it added.
