Negros Occidental launches own dairy product

THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, through the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO), is making its own version of yogurt ice cream with mixed fresh fruits more available to the public.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena led the launching of the dairy product at the PVO grounds in Bacolod City on Wednesday, October 14.

Decena said PVO's yogurt ice cream has been available for many years already.

This is being produced by the Provincial Livestock Breeding Center and Dairy Farm in Barangay La Granja in La Carlota City.

Negrenses, however, can only get a taste of it during Panaad sa Negros Festival celebration only.

"We are now making it available daily, right at the doorsteps of the PVO," he added.

The PVO has been engaged in dairy production since 2001.

In 2019, the province's effort has gained boost after receiving a food safety compliant citation by the National Dairy Authority Awards for operating an outstanding dairy farms.

Decena said the PVO, this time, is showcasing its farm cattle dairy production which include fresh milk and yogurt in variant flavors like chocolate, ube, buko pandan, strawberry, and mango.

Through Provincial Tax Ordinance 2017-001 or "An Ordinance Enacting the 2017 Provincial Revenue Code of the Province of Negros Occidental," the province produces dairy products that are available for orders.

These products include unprocessed fresh cow milk, pasteurized fresh processed milk, processed flavored milk, and plain or flavoured fresh milk.
